Orchid-like, orange blossoms with reddish dotting. 40 cm long sword-like leaves. Ornamental healing perennial, which can be grown in a portable portable container oroutdoors. The above-ground part of the plant will die away at the end of autumn – leaves will get dry and yellow – butthe above-ground part will regrow again once spring comes. The plant is frost-resistant.
Healing effects:
Healing substances are contained in leaves and rhizomes. Chewing the end-parts of the young leaves treats angina, sore throat, colds, respiratory infections, it can also healbad coughing. After a while of chewing spit out the rest of it. Leaves can also be used for the preparation of an infusion to treat pain and inflammation in the throat. Cut the leaves into small pieces (about teaspoon size) put the pieces into 200ml of boiling water and leach for 15 minutes. It is then used as a gargle (mouthwash). An ifusion may be prepared from a rhizome. It is effective in treating urinary tract, kidney disease, bloating and constipation. Place the teaspoon of crushed rhizomes in 125 ml of boiling water and leach for 15 minutes.
