Fast growing deciduous tree up to 30m tall in nature with flat treetop, comes from the north-west of Madagascar. Thick light grey bottle-shaped trunk with lilac bark. 5-7 palmate leaves, up to 13 cm long and 1.5 cm wide reddish flowers with distinctive yellow stamen. Edible round or egg-shaped fruit. Endemic to Madagascar.
